Push campaign setup
Set up a push notification campaign on UluMob, with CPC or CPA pricing, a 30-character title and a square icon.
Push ads arrive as notifications on the devices of people who subscribed to a publisher site's updates. The visitor sees a short title, a line of text and an icon, and you pay when they tap. See Push for the audience.
How push reaches people
Visitors of a push zone are asked to allow notifications and become subscribers of that site. UluMob sends your notification to subscribers who match your campaign, and you pay for the click (CPC) or the conversion (CPA), never for sending. Each subscriber gets a limited number of notifications: at most a few a day, a couple of hours apart, and only during the daytime in the subscriber's own time zone. The exact limits are platform settings. Push zones that cannot use web push (for example a browser without support) still show your ad as a card on the page.
Pricing
| Pricing model | Current default floor | Charged when |
|---|---|---|
| CPC | $0.003 per click | The visitor clicks |
| CPA | $0.50 per conversion | A valid postback arrives |
Country floors can be higher. Check the traffic volume page for the countries you target. The current default minimum daily budget is $15.
What each ad needs
| Field | Required | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Destination URL | Yes | http or https, up to 2,048 characters, macros allowed |
| Title | Yes | Up to 30 characters |
| Description | No | Up to 45 characters |
| Icon | Yes | Square, at least 192x192 pixels, JPG, PNG or WebP, up to 300 KB |
| Image | No | JPG, PNG, GIF or WebP, up to 1024 KB |
The form counts characters as you type and does not let the title run past the limit.
Set up the campaign
- Go to
/app/advertiser/campaigns/new. - In Basics, choose Push and pick CPC or CPA.
- Enter your bid and daily budget.
- Choose countries in Geo, then devices, operating systems and browsers in Traffic. Push subscribers also carry a language and the country they signed up from, so those rules work as usual.
- In Ads, enter the destination URL, title and description.
- Under Icon, choose an icon from your creatives or select Upload to add one from your computer. Do the same under Image if you want one.
- Add more ads with Add another ad to test several titles and icons.
- Select Create campaign.
Subscriber age
In Advanced, Subscriber age limits the campaign to subscribers by the number of days since they subscribed: 0–1 days (new), 2–7, 8–30, 31 days and older, or a custom range. Fresh subscribers click more and old ones less, so many advertisers bid higher on the newest bucket. Subscriber age only exists for push, and only notifications use it: a campaign with an age rule does not appear as an on-page card.
Uploading icons in advance
If you run many push campaigns, upload icons once at /app/advertiser/creatives with the type Icon. You can put them in folders and pick them in any ad later. An icon that is still used by an ad cannot be deleted until you change or remove that ad.
Writing push ads
- The title is all most people read. Put the offer in the first few words.
- Test several title and icon combinations as separate ads in one campaign, and use Ad rotation set to Evenly at random or By weight while you test.
- Once you know the winner, switch rotation to Best-paying ad first or remove the weaker ads.
CPA on push
With CPA you pay only for conversions your tracker reports. You must add {click_id} to the destination URL and send it back in the postback. See Postback setup. CPA bids are ranked against CPC bids using an expected conversion rate, so a low CPA bid can win little traffic. See Minimum bids.
Tips
- Click bots are filtered: a repeated click from the same IP or visitor within a few seconds, a replayed click link or a click on an expired link is not billed.
- Block sources that click but never convert from the report row. See Source lists and blocking.
