The click id is all you need
When a visitor clicks or opens your ad, UluMob generates a unique click id. Put the {click_id} macro in your destination URL and it is replaced with that id on the way to your page:
https://tracker.example/c?cid={click_id}&zone={zone_id}&geo={geo}
Your tracker stores the id with the visit. When the visitor converts, your tracker sends it back to UluMob in a postback. Nothing else is required to attribute the conversion to the right campaign, ad, zone and country.
Macros you can pass
Besides the click id, destination URLs accept macros that describe where the visit came from. Each one has an alias, so it fits naming you may already use.
| Macro | Value |
|---|---|
{click_id} |
unique click id, used for the postback |
{campaign_id}, {ad_id} |
your campaign and ad |
{zone_id}, {publisher_id}, {domain} |
where the ad ran |
{cost} |
what this click or open cost you, in USD |
{geo}, {region_name}, {city_name} |
visitor location |
{os}, {device}, {browser}, {lang} |
visitor device and language |
{carrier}, {ispid}, {connection_type} |
network |
{subid}, {sid1} to {sid10} |
publisher source and sub-IDs |
Passing {zone_id} and {cost} into your tracker lets you calculate return on spend per source there as well.
The postback
The postback is a server-to-server call with four parameters and a signature:
click_id: the id you receivedconv_type: a letter for the type of conversion you set up in the panel,Aby defaultpayout: your revenue for this conversion, used in reportingtx_id: your own transaction or order id
The token parameter is an HMAC-SHA256 of those parameters, keyed with your postback secret. You can rotate the secret in the panel at any time. The exact signing steps, with code, are in the documentation.
Templates for your tracker
The tracking page in the panel generates a ready postback URL for Voluum, Keitaro, Binom, RedTrack and BeMob, with each tracker's own click id and payout placeholders already in place. Paste it into the traffic source settings of your tracker and the integration is done. Any other tracker that accepts URL parameters works the same way.
Rules that keep data honest
- Signed: a postback without a valid signature is refused, so a leaked click id cannot create conversions.
- Deduplicated: each click counts once per conversion type within the 7-day attribution window, unless you allow repeats for that type, for example for recurring deposits.
- Attributed for 7 days: a click accepts conversions for that long after it happens.
- Logged when refused: every rejected postback is stored with its reason (bad signature, unknown or expired click, inactive conversion type, duplicate) and shown in the panel.
What you get in reports
Conversions appear next to impressions, clicks and spend, grouped by date, country, format, operating system, device, zone, campaign or ad. That is where you find the zones worth a higher bid and the ones to blacklist. With tracking in place you can also run CPA campaigns that charge only per conversion, or use conversion caps to stop a campaign once it reaches a target.
