How CPA works on UluMob
A CPA campaign bids a fixed price per conversion. You define what a conversion is: a registration, a deposit, a subscription, an install. When it happens, your tracker or server calls the UluMob postback with the click id, and your account is charged the CPA bid for that conversion.
Impressions and clicks on a CPA campaign cost you nothing. The network takes the risk on traffic quality, which is why CPA bids are converted to an expected eCPM in the auction and compete with CPM and CPC campaigns on the same scale.
CPA is available on three formats:
| Format | CPA floor (default) | Alternative |
|---|---|---|
| Popunder | $0.50 | CPM from $0.10 |
| Push | $0.50 | CPC from $0.003 |
| Banner | $0.50 | CPM from $0.05 |
What you need before you start
CPA depends on reliable conversion data, so set up tracking first:
- Add
{click_id}to your destination URL. It is a unique id for each click. - Keep that id through your funnel, usually in your tracker or as a parameter on your offer.
- When a conversion happens, call the postback with the click id, a conversion type and a signature made with your postback secret.
Ready-made postback templates exist for common trackers, including Voluum, Keitaro, Binom, RedTrack and BeMob. The conversion tracking page explains each parameter.
Signed postbacks, no surprises
Every postback must be signed with an HMAC of its parameters, keyed with your secret. A postback with a bad signature is refused. That means nobody who learns a click id can charge your account by firing fake conversions.
Further safeguards:
- Each click counts once per conversion type within the 7-day attribution window, unless you allow repeats for that type.
- Clicks accept conversions for 7 days, so late deposits and trial upgrades are still attributed.
- Every refused postback is logged with its reason, visible in the panel, so you can debug an integration without guessing.
- The
payoutyou report is used for your revenue reporting. You are charged your CPA bid, not that value.
Caps that protect your budget
Conversion caps let you stop serving once a daily or total number of conversions of a given type is reached. Combine them with daily budgets and frequency caps to keep a test small while you learn which countries and zones convert.
You can also define several conversion types, for example a lead as A and a sale as B, and track both while you pay CPA on one.
When CPA is the right choice
CPA fits when your funnel is stable and you know what a conversion is worth. If you are still testing landing pages, CPM or CPC usually gives faster data: you see where clicks come from before conversions accumulate. Many buyers start on CPM with tracking in place, then move proven countries to CPA.
Either way, the tracking setup is the same. Create an account, add funds from $50 and read the documentation to connect your tracker.
