Test Lab

Try campaigns, ad codes, tracking links, postbacks and targeting in the UluMob Test Lab before any money moves, as an advertiser or a publisher.

The Test Lab at /app/lab is where you check that everything works before real traffic and real money are involved. Nothing you do there is charged, paid out or counted in your reports. Every account has it: advertisers, publishers and the UluMob team each see the sections that apply to them, and every section has its own link, such as /app/lab#macros.

Test campaigns (advertisers)

A test campaign is an ordinary campaign with one difference: it serves only on your own test zones in the Lab, never on a real site.

  • It skips review and is active as soon as you save it.
  • It is never charged and earns no publisher anything, so it works with a zero balance.
  • Its impressions, clicks and conversions are recorded and flagged as test traffic. Reports leave them out unless you tick Include test traffic, and they never appear in billing.

Make one in two ways:

  1. In Test campaigns, pick one of your campaigns and select Make test copy. The copy keeps the settings, targeting and ads and is named "(test)".
  2. Start a new campaign with New test campaign, or tick Test campaign in the first step of the campaign form. It cannot be changed after the campaign is created.

Edits to a test campaign apply at once. To run the same campaign on real traffic, copy it again without the test option: the copy goes through review like any new campaign.

Test zones (advertisers)

You get one test zone per format, and one per banner size. Each zone shows its code with a Copy code button and a Preview page. The preview carries the zone's real code, so you see your test campaign served, rendered and clicked exactly as a visitor would, without a site of your own. You can also paste the code into any page you control.

Only your own test campaigns serve on your test zones. Real campaigns never reach them, and your test campaigns never reach a real zone.

Macro tester

Paste a tracker or landing URL. The Lab fills every macro the way a real click does and lists any {token} that is not a macro, so a typo shows up before you launch. Choose Sample click for example values, or one of your recent clicks to see the values it really carried. Clicks are kept for 7 days; region, city, browser, language and network are not kept after the click and stay empty.

Postback tester (advertisers)

Paste a postback URL with a real click ID. It is checked like a live call (signature, conversion type, duplicates) and the answer says what would be charged, but nothing is recorded or charged. See Testing postbacks.

Targeting simulator (advertisers)

Describe a visitor: country, region and city, device, operating system and version, browser and version, language, connection, network (ISP or AS number), the page address and title, the time, and the audiences they belong to. For each of your campaigns the Lab says whether that visitor could be shown it, and names the first rule that stops it. Budgets, bids and caps are not judged here.

Sample ads on your zones (publishers)

Open any page of your site with ?ulm_test=1 at the end of the address, for example https://example.com/article?ulm_test=1. Every UluMob code on that page then shows a sample ad instead of a real one, so you can check the placement, the size and the look on desktop and phone. Nothing is counted or paid, and your visitors without that parameter keep seeing real ads.

Tag checker (publishers)

Pick one of your sites and a page path. The Lab loads the page the way a visitor's browser would and lists the UluMob zone codes it finds, flags a code of a zone that is not yours, and names the active zones of that site that are missing from the page.

Describe a visitor once (country, device, operating system, connection, carrier, language and, if you like, a time); the tools below use that visitor. Test clicks and test conversions are marked as tests: never charged, never paid, left out of reports.

  • Test offers (advertisers). Make a test copy of a CPA offer. It skips review, gets a test link of its own (never on the offer wall or in a smartlink) and keeps the offer's targeting and payouts. Test click sends the visitor through it: you get the landing URL with the click ID, or the reason the offer would not take this visitor. Then Send test conversion calls your real postback for any event the offer pays and shows the answer (conversion ID, event, status, nothing charged). See the CPA offer guide.
  • Smartlink simulator (affiliates). Which offer one of your smartlinks, or a set of smartlink settings, would send the visitor to, and why each other live offer would not. See Smartlinks.
  • CPA network offers (admins). A test click to a partner network's offer, the network's landing with our click ID (in local development the fake network page, whose buttons fire its postbacks), and Send test conversion as the network would report it. It goes through the partner's postback mapping and is recorded as a test click's conversion: no receivable, no affiliate share.

Every format, drawn by the real publisher code with a fixed sample ad: no ad request, nothing counted. Switch between a desktop and a phone frame and between a light and a dark page to see how each format sits on a site. Popunder and direct-link formats open when you click inside the frame.
