Revenue share
How your share of advertiser spend is set, how network, account and zone shares take precedence, and how it shows up in your earnings.
Advertisers pay UluMob for impressions, clicks and conversions on your zones. You earn a fixed percentage of what the advertiser is actually charged for each of those events. The rest is the network margin, which pays for serving, review and fraud filtering.
How the share is set
There are three levels. The most specific one that is set wins.
| Level | Set by | Applies to |
|---|---|---|
| Zone share | UluMob, for one zone | That zone only |
| Account share | UluMob, for your account | All your zones without a zone share |
| Network default | UluMob, for everyone | All zones with neither of the above |
In other words, the engine looks for a share on the zone first. If there is none, it uses the share set on your publisher account. If that is not set either, it uses the network default.
Shares are set by the UluMob team; there is no control for them in the publisher panel. If you send substantial or specialised traffic and want to discuss your share, write to [email protected]. A change applies to new traffic as soon as it is saved. Earnings already recorded are not recalculated.
How earnings are calculated
For every billed event on your zone:
your earnings = advertiser charge x your share
The advertiser charge depends on the campaign that won the auction for that ad request:
- CPM campaigns are charged per impression, at the auction price and never above their bid. An impression counts when the ad is actually shown: for most formats when at least half of it is on screen, for popunders when the tab opens.
- CPC campaigns are charged per valid click on a rendered ad.
- CPA campaigns are charged their CPA bid when the advertiser reports a conversion from a click on your zone.
- CPV video campaigns are charged when the video ad is rendered.
Comparing these different models in one auction is done by UluMob. You do not need to choose pricing models for your zones.
Setting a floor
Each zone has an optional setting, Lowest CPM you accept. When it is set, the zone only shows ads whose expected value per thousand impressions meets that amount. A higher floor can raise the value of each impression but may leave more requests without an ad. Leave it empty to accept every eligible campaign.
What is not paid
Traffic that is flagged by the quality checks is not charged to the advertiser, so it earns nothing for you. This includes bot traffic, repeated or replayed clicks, and scripted request bursts. See Traffic quality rules.
If an advertiser's budget runs out between the moment an ad is chosen and the moment it is shown, the impression is recorded without a charge and earns nothing.
