Automation rules

Build UluMob rules that block weak zones and sub-IDs, change bids, pause campaigns or email you when spend, clicks, conversions or CPA cross a limit.

A rule watches your traffic sources and acts when its conditions hold, so you do not have to check reports every day. Open Rules in the advertiser panel.

Anatomy of a rule

  • Applies to: one campaign, or all your campaigns.
  • Look-back window: how many days of data the rule reads, up to the platform limit.
  • Conditions: one or more tests on a metric. All of them must hold.
  • Then / For: the action, and what it is applied to: each zone, each sub-ID or the campaign.
Metric Meaning
Spend (USD) What you were charged in the window
Clicks, Impressions, Conversions Counts in the window
CTR (%) Clicks per hundred impressions
CPA (USD) Spend divided by conversions. A source that spent money and has no conversion counts as an infinite CPA

Comparisons are >, ≥, <, ≤ and =.

Actions

Action Works on What it does
Block the zone each zone Adds the zone to the campaign's block list
Block the sub-ID each sub-ID Adds the sub-ID to the campaign's excluded sub-IDs
Change the bid each zone, or the campaign Raises or lowers the bid by a percentage, never below the floor
Pause the campaign the campaign Pauses it. You resume it yourself
Email me any Sends one email listing the sources that matched

Blocks, bid changes and pauses use the same controls as the block button in your reports, so they show up in your campaign's targeting and zone bids.

Example: stop paying for zones that never convert

  • Applies to: all my campaigns
  • Look-back window: 7 days
  • Conditions: Spend > 20 and Conversions = 0
  • Then Block the zone for each zone

How often rules run

Rules are checked about once an hour (the platform sets the interval). A block or pause happens once; a bid change or an email for the same source repeats no sooner than the platform's repeat delay (24 hours by default), so a rule cannot cut a bid again every hour. What the rules did lists every action with the numbers behind it. Turn email notifications for rules on or off in Account settings.

Only your own active campaigns are affected, and a rule that cannot reach the statistics is simply tried again the next minute.
