Popunder ads

A popunder opens an advertiser's landing page in a new browser tab behind the current page, usually on the visitor's first click.

How it works

A publisher places a tag on its site. When the visitor first clicks anywhere on the page, a new tab opens behind the one they are reading, and they find it when they close or leave the publisher's page. There is no banner, image or headline: the landing page itself is the ad, so it has to load fast and explain the offer in its first screen.

Because the format needs no creative, popunder is a common starting point for testing offers and landing pages. Reach is high, attention per visit is low, and results depend almost entirely on the page.

Example

You buy 200,000 popunder opens at a $0.80 CPM. Cost = 200,000 / 1000 × $0.80 = $160. If 320 visitors register, your cost per registration is $160 / 320 = $0.50.

On UluMob

Popunder campaigns are priced per thousand opens (CPM) or per conversion (CPA). A CPM charge happens when the tab actually opens: the redirect to your page is the impression. The default floor is $0.10 CPM or $0.50 CPA; when a targeted country has a higher floor on the traffic volume page, that one applies. The minimum daily budget is $15.

By default each visitor gets one open per session, and you can add a frequency cap such as one open per day. Put {click_id} in the destination URL if you want to report conversions by postback.
