Direct-click traffic

Direct-click traffic is visitors who typed a parked, expired or mistyped domain and were sent straight to an advertiser's landing page.

How it works

Some domains have no site of their own: they expired, are parked for resale, or are common misspellings of well-known addresses. People still type them. Instead of showing an empty page, the domain's owner sends the visitor to an advertiser through an ad network. The visitor sees no creative and arrives directly on the landing page, which is why this traffic is also called domain redirect or zero-click traffic.

The visitor typed an address, so there is some intent behind the visit, and the theme of the typed domain hints at what they wanted. Matching the offer to that theme is what makes the format work. Volumes are steady but limited by how many such domains exist.

Example

A VPN offer buys 30,000 redirect visits on privacy-themed domains at a $2.00 CPM: cost = 30,000 / 1000 × $2.00 = $60. If 90 visitors start a trial, the cost per trial is $60 / 90 = $0.67.

On UluMob

This traffic is sold as the domain redirect format, billed per thousand visits (CPM) from a default floor of $0.50, or per conversion (CPA) from $0.50, with a $15 minimum daily budget. Keyword targeting, available only on redirect campaigns, matches the theme of the domain the visitor typed. No creative is needed: you provide the destination URL. A CPM visit is billed at the redirect; a CPA campaign pays only for the conversions your postback reports, and as an offer on the offer wall it also gets affiliates' direct links and smartlinks.
