Sweepstakes advertising

Sweepstakes advertising promotes prize draws and giveaways that people enter by submitting their details, and is often paid per completed entry.

How it works

A sweepstakes offer invites people to enter a draw for a prize such as a gift card, a phone or a coupon. Entering usually means submitting an email address or phone number, sometimes after a short survey. The advertiser is buying the lead, and pays per completed entry: a single opt-in, or a double opt-in where the address is confirmed.

The offer is easy to explain in a few words, which is why it pairs well with push and pop traffic. It is also an area where consumer law is strict. Many countries require clear terms, a stated method of choosing the winner, entry without purchase and an honest description of the prize. The rules vary by country and sometimes by region within a country.

Example

At a $0.01 CPC, 5,000 clicks cost $50. With a 15% entry rate you collect 750 entries; at a $0.10 payout each, revenue is $75 and ROAS = 75 / 50 = 1.5.

On UluMob

Sweepstakes campaigns commonly run on push and popunder traffic. The landing page must state what is required to enter and how the winner is chosen. Local consumer and promotion rules apply in every targeted country, and following them is the advertiser's responsibility. Every new campaign and every new or edited ad is reviewed before it serves, and offers that do not meet these rules are refused.
