Media buying

Media buying is the work of purchasing ad placements or traffic, then adjusting targeting, bids and budgets until the spend returns a profit.

How it works

A media buyer starts with an offer and a goal, often a target cost per action or a minimum ROAS. They choose a traffic source and a format, launch a test campaign with broad targeting, and measure results by placement, country, device and creative. Then they cut what loses money, raise bids where it earns, and scale the budget on the combinations that keep working.

The loop depends on tracking. Without a click ID passed to the landing page and a conversion reported back, a buyer sees spend but not results, and cannot tell which placements to block.

Example

A test spends $200 across 40 zones and returns $210, a ROAS of 1.05. Eight zones account for $90 of spend and $180 of revenue (ROAS 2.0); the other 32 spent $110 and returned $30. Blocking the 32 and keeping the eight raises ROAS from 1.05 to 2.0, and the freed budget can go to the zones that work.

On UluMob

UluMob is built for buyers who run this loop themselves. Destination URLs accept macros such as {click_id}, {zone_id}, {geo} and {cost}, so your tracker sees each click's source and price. Reports group by date, country, format, OS, device, zone, campaign and ad. Use blacklist_zones to cut losing placements, per-country bids on each ad to pay more where it converts, and the traffic volume page to check floors before launch.
